Reducing unnecessary costs is one of the crucial steps most businesses will take in order to remain solvent and operational. BAYADA Home Health Care and AmeriHealth Caritas recently announced an agreement to help improve patient health and accountability for the services provided to those individuals at home.
The value-based agreement is part of AmeriHealth Caritas’s PerformPlus® collection of value-based contracting programs. The entire system is developed on a set of incentives given to providers, like BAYADA. When AmeriHealth Caritas pays for services provided by home health care agencies like BAYADA, a mutual agreement can be integral in improving the quality of care, reducing costs, and improving oversight.
As noted in the Ocean Times Herald blog, BAYADA Home Health Care and AmericHealth Caritas Announce Value-Based PerformPlus® Collaboration:
““By incentivizing providers for better outcomes and efficiency, we help keep our members healthier and, as a result, out of the hospital and emergency room,” said AmeriHealth Caritas Executive Vice President of Health Services Marilyn Eckley. “This new program is a natural step in our continued relationship with BAYADA to help our members live in their own homes and communities. BAYADA’s long track record of delivering standard-setting home health services made it a clear choice for our first value-based agreement with a home health services provider.””
BAYADA remains one of the largest providers of home care support services in the country. With their ability to offer critical services to a wide range of aging and disabled clients, a value-based relationship can help provide even more incentive to reach increased outcomes and efficiency targets.
BAYADA Home Health Care CEO David Baiada said in a press release regarding this announcement, “BAYADA is pleased to enter into this value-based agreement with another innovative and mission-aligned organization like AmeriHealth Caritas, which shares our commitment to improving client outcomes and embracing efficiency.”
This new program is set to extend across all of BAYADA Home Health Care’s specialties, which include home health care support services, personal care, hospice, adult nursing, and pediatric practices. It includes several plans operating in multiple states and there is the potential to be expanded into future markets, as both organizations continue to seek to grow and provide valuable support services throughout their respective communities.
Improving patient care at home is a vital component of helping aging seniors and disabled adults save money and be comfortable in their own environment. This is a goal that most home care agencies would likely be pursuing as well.
